A letter was sent home to parents and guardians Friday detailing the incident.
According to OPS officials a student was found to be in possession of a loaded gun on school property after receiving it from a second student.
As soon as administrators were made aware of the situation, the School Resource Officer confiscated the weapon and, in turn, immediately notified police. Officers took the gun and arrested both students.
Neither student made any specific threats. No shots were fired. No one was injured.
OPS officials stress that Benson High Magnet School students’ safety was maintained throughout this situation.
