Just before 1:00 Wednesday afternoon the driver of a van from Mable Rose Assisted Living was near 36th and Highway 370 when she noticed smoke.
Hillcrest Health Services Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jim Janicki says she pulled into a strip mall parking lot and began getting 7-8 passengers to safety.
Janicki says three Good Samaritans saw the smoke and flames from the front of the van and began helping the driver get the passengers out the back.
Janicki says the van was completely engulfed in flames by the time the last passenger was removed.
No one was injured and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
