A woman who was considered an accomplice to mass murderer Charlie Starkweather, has been critically injured in a Michigan wreck.
Caril Fugate Clair was with her husband Frederick when their car crashed near Grand Rapids. Frederick Clair died in the wreck.
The then-Caril Ann Fugate served 28 years in prison after she accompanied her boyfriend Starkweather on a killing spree in Nebraska and Wyoming in 1957-58 that claimed the lives of Fugate's mother, stepfather, 2-year-old sister, and eight others.
Starkweather was executed.
