Now - November 2nd - Fontenelle Nature Association presents EcoHuts: An Exploration Exhibit for All Ages.  Push, pedal, spin and slide to discover that conservation is more than just a great idea!  Fontenelle Forest Nature Center is located at 1111 N. Perspectives, an exhibition of small works — paintings, drawings, ceramics, and sculpture — by thirty-four Midwest artists, begins Monday, August 25, at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City.

 

Visitors to the exhibition will be treated to the talented and diverse “perspectives” of artists Joe Brogrhammer, Kate Brooke, Roger Bruhn, Judith Burton, Larry Ferguson, Robert Hillstad, Bill Shaffer, Bryce Speed and many others. Perspectives is selection of compelling contemporary works ranging from the abstract to realistic representation from the inventory of Modern Arts Midwest (MAM).

 

The public is invited to The Kimmel Harding Nelson gallery to meet Larry and Judy Roots and artists with works in the Perspectives exhibition at a reception on Thursday evening, September 11, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Perspectives will remain on exhibit through Thursday, October 16, 2008.

Heartland of America Park

Walk for Inclusion is an annual community-building event given by Conference for Inclusive Communities (CFIC) to bring all people from the Omaha and surrounding communities together to take steps against prejudice and to celebrate their differences and commonalities.

Families who have students and or adults with developmental disabilities are encouraged to learn about the wide array of services and supports offered in the greater Omaha community.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is holding its Annual Walk on Thursday, September 18th at Heartland of America Park in Downtown Omaha.  Registration is at 6:00pm with the walk starting at 7:30 pm.  All proceeds will go towards The Society's mission of finding a cure for blood cancers and improving the quality of life for patients and their families.   Currently over 830,000 people are living with a blood cancer in the United States.  Every five minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer and every 10 minutes someone dies from one of these cancers.  Please come join our walk and help find a cure to save the lives of so many.  For more information, please visit our website at www.lightthenight.org/ne or call Paula Cooper at (402) 344-2242.

The Nebraska PTA invites you to join PTA/PTSA volunteers from across the state to our 85th Annual Convention and Leadership Conference.  Our guest speaker, Governor Dave Heineman, will be giving a parental involvement proclamation for Parental Involvement month

Sept. 20:

Hand in Hand - Linking Lives for Parkinson's is the theme for the American Parkinson's Disease Organization's second annual fund raising effort.  This will be a special evening of food and entertainment by the Jazz Wholes.

The event will be held on September 20th  from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., at the KANEKO – the Old Market’s latest arts and entertainment venue at 1111 Jones St. in Omaha. 

The evening will include live and silent auctions, as well as a raffle.




October 4, 2008 - 7th Annual Omaha Metro Area Buddy Walk

Registration begins at 7:30AM

Omaha Down Syndrome Parents Network has partnered with the Special Education and Speech and Language Departments to bring you this year's Buddy Walk on the UNO Campus.
