A Union Pacific employee has won the railroad industry's top environmental award.
The Association of American Railroads said this week that Michael Iden won this year's John H. Chafee Award for his work to improve locomotive efficiency.
Iden is a 38-year railroad veteran who helped develop more than 40 emissions reduction technologies, and he played a role in the development of ``Genset'' low-emissions locomotives.
Iden works for Omaha-based Union Pacific in Chicago.
