iowa becomes the 29th state to issue such a license plate.
The anti-abortion group Iowa Right to Life is behind the Iowa campaign for the plate approval. A Florida-based group called Choose Life America is leading the national drive.
Iowa Transportation Department spokeswoman Dena Gray-Fisher said the department bars politically charged plates such as those with endorsements. But she says department officials have decided the Choose Life message doesn't violate content criteria.
That agency approval makes Iowa the 29th state to approve a variation of the Choose Life plate.
