Nebraska coach Bo Pelini has given Aaron Green permission to transfer.

Green appeared in 12 games as a freshman last season, rushing 24 times for 105 yards and two touchdowns and catching one pass for 25 yards and a TD. The San Antonio native appeared to be the No. 3 running back coming out of spring practice, behind Rex Burkhead and Ameer Abdullah.

The team announced the move Monday. Tony Green says his son wants to transfer to a school closer to home, such as Oklahoma, Houston, Baylor, Texas Tech or TCU.

Andrew Green, Aaron's brother, is in line to be a starting cornerback for the Cornhuskers this fall.
