Both candidates move ahead after easy primary victories.
Lee Terry and John Ewing know each other well. And not just as opposing candidates for Congress. They were classmates back in the day.
Terry, the seven-term GOP incumbent, will face Ewing, the Douglas County treasurer, in the fall general election. Terry pulled 60 percent against four other candidates in the Republican primary, while Ewing easily outdistanced State Senator Gwen Howard to claim the Democratic nomination.
Joe Jordan of NebraskaWatchdog.com said, "Because Howard is pro-choice, Terry’s camp was hoping to run against her figuring they could pick up pro-life Democrats who see eye-to-eye with Terry’s anti-choice positions. Because Ewing is pro-life that potential edge is gone."
Terry says while he and Ewing have known one another for years, their views couldn't be further apart.
"Things are about to get interesting."
