Sharon Brewster was sentenced to 8-12 years in prison on Wednesday. Sentencing came exactly one year after the fire that caused an estimated $20 million damage.
Her attorney asked for community service and house arrest. Brewster pleaded no contest to second-degree arson in February. Prosecutors say she set fire to some papers on a supervisor's desk over frustration about how she was treated.
District and city officials held a groundbreaking on Tuesday for a new school headquarters and commercial development.
