Andres Gonzalez had holed up in a downtown Alliance pharmacy with the owner, Charles Lierk. WCOW radio newsman Kevin Horn told 1110 KFAB, "A small town like Alliance where everybody knows everybody, a pharmacist is a good friend to everyone. And this is just a real unsettling situation."
A Nebraska state trooper and two Alliance police officers were wounded during the standoff. They're expected to be okay.
Investigators are still trying to determine if Gonzalez might have been involved with an apparent murder across town earlier in the day.
