Omaha businessman Dave Nabity is the first Republican to enter the race
During his final Saturday morning show on 1110 KFAB Nabity announced his intentions to enter the race. Nabity was a one time candidate for governor and led the effort last year to recall current mayor Jim Suttle.
Suttle has already announced plans to run for re-election. The other Democrat in the race is State Senator Brad Ashford. Nabity tells KFAB News he and his wife Kim spent the past two months seriously discussing his possible candidacy.
In making his announcement Nabity said "I believe I have something to contribute that can make a big difference on where we are heading as a city."
