Energy consumption isn't near the record yet... but stay tuned.
While energy demands haven't peaked yet for MidAmerican Energy, officials are still keeping an eye on the continuing heat wave... and the need for power.
MidAmerican's Tina Pothoff says about 65-thousand customers are taking part in an energy-saving program.
"There's a device that's on their air conditioners," she says, "that allows us to then cycle their air conditioners on-and-off while keeping their fan blowing and keeping them cool."
While usage has gone up along with the temperatures, Pothoff says demand hasn't come close to the last record summer peak. That one came last July.
