Animals are on the road to recovery
Nebraska Humane Society officials made a return trip to Boone County late last week to rescue more horses from a hoarding situation discovered earlier this month.
Spokesperson Pam Wiese says the starving horses were confined to bare pastures with virtually no food sources available. The new arrivals include moms with babies.
Wiese says with a good diet, and proper care, the horses will recover and become good companions for a horse friendly family.
She says the nine horses initially rescued on July 12th are responding well to hay and fresh water. They could be ready for adoption in 3-4 months.
