28 year old man was on probation in a federal gun case
Omaha Police say they received a call regarding suspicious activity by four men in a black chevy in the area of 33rd Whitmore Ave around 2:15 Saturday morning. When officers approached the vehicle, the suspects took off.
As officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, a gun was thrown out the vehicle. The officers pursued the vehicle with the assistance of the Able-1 helicopter. The suspects pulled over in the area of 27th and Jaynes and ran from the car.
Officers found and arrested Trenayne Cooper after a short foot pursuit. He was booked for Obstructing a Peace Officer and booked at Douglas County Corrections. The three other suspects were not found . Officers recovered the Glock .357 handgun that was thrown out of the car.
Cooper was awaiting trial on a federal weapons charge.
