All restrictions at Offutt AFB lifted around 4:30 Friday afternoon after a suspicious package was found in a commercial vehicle around 11:45 this morning at the Capehart Road Gate at Offutt Air Force Base.
The commercial vehicle was going through a routine check in the search pit prior to entering the base when a K-9 military working dog alerted personnel to the package.
People within facilities near the gate were evacuated as a precautionary measure and an explosive ordnance disposal unit from the Omaha Police Department is at the scene.
The Capehart Road Gate remained closed after the restriction was lifted. All other gates were open.
