Police say 18 year old Michael Tran was taken off life support today
The accident happened early Saturday morning at 72nd and Grover. Investigators say a car driven by Sergio Valdivia-Maquez was southbound on 72nd Street at a high rate of speed. The car went through a red light and slammed into Tran's car.
Tran was rushed to UNMC where he died Wednesday morning. Valdivia-Maquez suffered injuries to both legs. Investigators say alcohol and excessive speed were factors in this collision.
Charges against Valdivia-Maquez are pending.
