Invesitgators say the bike rider was hit by a truck making a U turn
The accident happened just before 6:00 Saturday night near 72nd and Pacific. According to Omaha traffic investigators, a white Ford F150 was westbound on Pacific from 72nd St in the right hand lane.
The motorcycle rider was initially travelling behind the pickup. The motorcycle changed lanes to the left lane and the pickup attempted to make a u-turn from the right lane.
The motorcycle then collided with the side of the pickup. Police say 49 year old Ken Kocanda of Omaha was rushed to the hospital in critical conditional with life-threatening injuries. Investigators say the helmet he was wearing appeared DOT approved.
The driver of the car was not hurt. So far no citations have been issued. The investigation is ongoing.
