Two metro area election commisioners are out with their predictions for next Tuesday's election
Douglas County Election Commissioner Dave Phipps predicts a voter turnout for the 2012 Statewide Presidential General Election of 68 percent.
“I believe turnout will be less than what we saw in the last Presidential General Election in 2008,” Phipps says. “There doesn’t seem to be the same level of excitement we saw four years ago.”
There are 327,182 voters registered in Douglas County. A 68 percent voter turnout would result in 222,484 votes on Election Day.
Sarpy County Election Commission Wayne Bena is predicting a 70 percent turnout. “As with any turnout prediction our office makes, I challenge the voters of Sarpy County to prove me wrong by exercising their right to vote.”
Bena says ballots can be mailed in, or dropped of in his office during business hours, or ballots can be dropped of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the ballot drop off box located right outside the office.
Next Tuesday polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
