Nebraska Humane Society officials are now looking for the black lab-mix to determine if it has rabies

74 year old Bode LaBode went for a stroll Saturday afternoon near 144th and Corby, right in front of the Omaha Fire Station.  The Nebraska Humane Society says LaBode passed a woman in her late 40’s ot early 50’s who was walking her Black Lab-Mix on a leash.

LaBode tells 1110 KFAB as the two passed, the dog bit him his left shin.  LaBode didn't think the bite was serious and went home.  That is where he discovered two puncture marks on his leg.

His doctor advised Labode that he faces the possibility of rabies shots if this dog cannot be found and examined.

The Nebraska Humane Society is trying to find the dog to verify that the dog has been vaccinated.   Firefighters at the station say the woman frequently walks the dog in the area and it's believed she lives nearby.

The owner is asked to call the Nebraska Humane Society at 402-444-7800, x1.
