The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Driveis underway.

A large crowd gathered at  American National Bank at 90th and Dodge Friday night to help kick off the holiday season.  The Salvation Army's goal this year is $3.1 million.  Money raised through donations support programs and services they provide throughout the year.

The 75-foot tree has a new look as well.  The tree has special effects lighting similar to what is seen at Rockefeller Center in New York City.  This is in honor of the Salvation Army's 125th anniversary in 2013.

The red kettles are now out at 120 locations throughout the metro and the Salvation Army reminds residents thousands of bell ringers are needed.  Those wishing to donate time can sign up online at RingOmaha.org or call 402-898-6000.

Those wishing to support the Tree of Lights Campaign can donate online at GiveSalvationArmy.org or test "OMAHA" to 80888 to make a $10 donation by phone.

The Tree of Lights Campaign runs through December 24th.
