An Omaha surgeon says they're seeing more teens asking for plastic surgery to prevent bullying.
More kids are seeking help from plastic surgeons to stop bullies in their tracks.
"We get the occasional kid who has a pretty significant nasal deformity and is very bothered by it, maybe has been subject to teasing by his peers or even physical bullying. In those situations, we consider everyone on a case-by-case basis."
Dr. Richard Bruneteasu with Aesthetic Surgical Images says plastic surgery for kids is happening in Omaha, but it's even more popular in locales like New York City.
"I was just looking at some data, and they were saying that last year, there were over 132,000 cosmetic surgery procedures performed on children between the ages of 13 and 19. That's a lot of kids."
Dr, Bruneteasu says one of the most common procedures for kids is to fix prominent ears. That's usually done around the age of five.
