And Patrick Dehaan with GasBuddy.com says 2013 could be even worse.
This has been the most expensive year ever for filling up our gas tanks. Omaha drivers have paid about 15 cents a gallon more this year. Patrick Dehaan with GasBuddy.com says the national average for 2012 is $3.63 per gallon.
"And it sets up a dangerous start for 2013," says Dehaan, "we could see another year of higher-than-average prices at the pump. Of course, a lot of it will be contingent on what happens with the fiscal cliff."
Dehaan adds that major supply problems in California this summer and the damage to refineries from superstorm Sandy helped to boost gas prices.
