Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle has scheduled a recognition ceremony Tuesday morning for Carolyn "Kelly'' Williams.

Omaha officials are honoring Nebraska's first female firefighter before she retires.

Mayor Jim Suttle has scheduled a recognition ceremony Tuesday morning for Carolyn ``Kelly'' Williams. Officials say Williams is the first paid professional female firefighter in Nebraska.

Williams joined the Millard Fire Department in 1986. She has been a member of the Omaha Fire Department since 1998. She is scheduled to retire on Dec. 31.
