A number of issues will be covered during two public forums

In the wake of the Connecticut school shootings, The Omaha Police Officers' Association will join Alegent Creighton Mental Health Services, the Boystown National Hotline and volunteer mental health professionals in providing information and services to school officials, families and others attending the free event.

There be two sessions on Wednesday at the Police Officer Association's hall at 13445 Cryer Ave, which is just north of West Center Road.  The first will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the second will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The groups will discuss Omaha school safety, how to discuss the Connecticut tragedy with children, public and private resources that are available for crisis counseling and intervention, and recognizing potential warning signs in troubled people.

The assocation says limited counseling will be available, including counseling for children coping with the tragedy.
