A woman and an infant were rushed to a hospital late Friday afternoon

Smoke was coming from the apartment complex just north of 93rd and Maple when firefighters arrived round 4:30.   A second alarm was sounded to bring in extra crews.

Assistant Fire Chief Dan Stolinski says firefighters went through a window to get inside the building.

He says firefighters then pulled the woman and her child from a third floor unit.  They were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The fire was confined to the one unit but there is smoke damage to the entire upper floor.  The cause of the fire is not yet known.
