Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle is urging the City Council to approve the purchase of 400 credit card enabled single space parking meters.
The meters are expected to be installed in various locations by December 2013 and will accept both credit cards and coins.
The installation of the credit card operating parking meters is the latest initiative designed to improve the parking experience for Omaha residents.
“The new credit card parking meters will not only improve the parking experience for Omaha residents and visitors, but will also increase parking efficiency and reduce City operating expenses," Suttle says.
He hopes the City Council will act today to approve the purchase order.
