Health officials say the adult and child who died were not immunized.
Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Director Judy Halstead strongly recommends everyone six months of age and older get a flu shot as soon as possible.
It takes two weeks for the vaccination to take effect. Halstead says the number of flu cases in the county is very high. The two year old died Saturday.
Halstead sats those at a higher risk for influenza include children under the age of five, the elderly, pregnant women and people who have certain health conditions, including asthma, heart disease, kidney disorders and obesity.
