Douglas County Sheriff's Department says the boy collapsed in his northwest Omaha home Friday morning
Deputy Chief Marty Bilek says the boy's mother called 911 early Friday saying her son was sick and had collapsed.
Paramedics were dispatched to an apartment complex near 175th and West Maple and found the boy unresponsive. He was intially taken to Methodist Women’s Hospital and then to Creighton University Medical Center where he died around 6:00 a.m.
Bilek says Kola complained of flu-like symptoms hours before he collapsed. He moved to Omaha from Kenya seven months ago and was attending King Science and Technology Magnet Center.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday morning.
