Michael Williams was given a life sentence on Monday
The 37-year-old Williams pleaded guilty in October to shooting Michala Pomfret on the front porch of her mother's Bellevue home last April.
Pomfret died two days later. Family members say she came out onto the front porch to talk to Williams and then begged for her life just before Williams shot her.
Williams tried to kill himself within days of shooting Pomfret. Jailers also say Williams tried to kill himself on December 23 by taking an overdose of a nonprescription pain reliever.
In court on Monday, Williams apologized for the shooting and said he doesn't remember it.
