More than one thousand athletes from several states will be in Omaha this summer
Mayor Jim Suttle announced Monday morning that Omaha has been selected to host the 2013 and 2014 Midwest Region Championship and Para-Triathlon Championship on July 21 at Lake Cunningham.
Event orgnaizers says the Omaha Triathlon, now in it's fourth year, will coincide with the regional championships. That would make it the largest triathlon ever held in Nebraska.
Omaha continues to build a solid reputation as a host city for sporting events. The U-S Figure Skating Championships, Ciollege World Series and U-S Senior Open are some of the other events being held this year in Omaha.
