The Cozad Fire Department donated 14 Radio Flyer Wagons and $4 thousand on Friday afternoon
There were plenty of smiles in the hallways of UNMC today as pediatric patients substituted wagons for wheel chairs.
The wagons were donated by the Cozad Volunteer Fire Department to help make a child's hospital stay a little more comfortable.
The department also donate $4000.00 to purchase a Mobile Entertainment Unit, which includes games and a DVD player. The Fun Centers are designed to help kids take their minds off of their medical problems.
The firefighters raised the money from a freewill offering during a soupsupper they held late last year. The wagons were donated by community members and are engraved with the names of donors.
The firefighters chose to make the donation after one of their own firefighters had three transplants at UNMC.
