Nearly 30 pounds of marijuana covered in birthday wrapping paper was seized after a weekend traffic stop on I-80 in Cass County.
The Nebraska State Patrol says around noon Saturday a trooper stopped an eastbound car for following to close near the Greenwood exit on I-80.
A canine detected the odor of drugs coming from the car. A search led to the seizure of 29.5 lbs. of marijuana. The pot, contained in 13 individual packages, was located in a box wrapped in birthday paper in the trunk.
The driver, 52 year old Johnny Hatchett of West Sacramento, California was booked into the Cass County Jail on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
