Bellevue names Mark Elbert as the City's Chief of Police.
Chief Elbert had served as Interim Chief since June of 2012 following the resignation of John Stacey. Chief Elbert has been with the Bellevue Department since 1996. Since being named Interim Chief, Chief Elbert has restructured the department to be more efficient while managing a $14 million budget. He also played a key role in the design of the new Public Safety Facility on Wall Street which will be the new home of the Bellevue Police Department once completed.
“Chief Elbert has impressed me with his leadership and initiative while serving as Interim Police Chief, said City Administrator Dan Berlowitz. “We had some great candidates for the position but Mark has fit in very well with our management team and I look forward to him leading our great police department as the City of Bellevuecontinues to grow.”
Chief Elbert will take over the permanent duties of the Chief of Police effective immediately.
