Investigators say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors
Omaha Police say the crash happened around 9:45 Tuesday night at 30th Avenue and McKinley. The investigation revealed that a silver 2003 Mercedes SL55 sedan was north bound on 30th Avenue at a high rate of speed.
The driver failed to make the curve and left the roadway. Police say the vehicle continued through a grassy field until it went airborne, striking a tree.
The car then rolled and came to rest behind the Omaha Fire Station on North 30th Street. The driver, identified as 54 year old Don Losole, was thrown from the vehicle. He was rushed to UNMC with serious head injuries that are considered life threatening.
