Fremont lawmaker Charlie Janssen has announced he'll be a candidate for governor of Nebraska. The Republican made his announcement around noon today at Midland College. Janssen has a reputation for being a hard-line on illegal immigration issues.

Right now, he's the only official candidate in the governor's race. Former Speaker Mike Flood dropped out of the race due to his wife's cancer diagnosis. And former Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy is returning campaign donations after his resignation.
