The odd/even parking system will be used during the storm, effective at midnight Friday.
The city of Omaha has issued a snow emergency in preparation for the winter storm converging on Nebraska.
The odd/even parking system will be used during the storm, effective at midnight Friday... so you can move your cars to the even-numbered side of the street after midnight Thursday if you're parking east of 72nd Street. Drivers should switch to the odd side of the street on Saturday
In addition, Mayor Suttle is asking businesses to stagger release times for their employees Thursday, so everyone doesn't hit the road at the same time.
"No Parking" signs with arrows must be obeyed at all times, but if signs read "No Parking This Side of Block" vehicles may be parked there in accordance with the odd/even rules. Marked snow emergency routes must be kept completely clear of parked vehicles.
Public Works crews will begin treating streets with salt brine at midnight tonight. The City of Omaha will deploy approximately 200 vehicles in snow removal efforts, 100 of these are City-owned and 100 are contractor vehicles.
