Red Cross officials suggest putting together a winter prep kit...
Omaha's American Red Cross chapter is getting ready for the oncoming winter storm. Volunteers are on stand-by should shelters be needed for stranded travelers.
As for the rest of us, Red Cross officials suggest putting together a winter prep kit that includes a warm coat, hat, mittens or gloves, and water-resistant boots, along with extra blankets and extra warm clothes. Sand or non-clumping kitty litter is good to have on hand to make sidewalks and steps less slippery.
In addition, make sure you have a first aid kit and essential meds, canned food and can opener, bottled water, flashlights, and a battery powered radio with extra batteries, in case you're hit by a power outage.
Of course, we strongly encourage you follow the latest storm developments on 1110 KFAB.
