A house fire in eastern Council Bluffs killed a man and caused extensive damage to the two-story home.
Firefighters found the man's body inside the home after extinguishing the fire Monday afternoon. The fire destroyed most of the interior of the home and blackened part of the outside.
Investigators say no one else was home at the time of the fire.
Neighbors say the home is owned by a couple with three young children, but the family hadn't been living there recently because the couple had separated.
Officials didn't immediately identify the male body found inside the home. And it wasn't immediately clear how he died.
