Council Bluffs investigators say 43 year old Mark Vanderwoude was found inside a burning house Monday afternoon
The fire broke out around 3:15 p.m. Monday near 46 Norwood Drive. Fire Chief Alan Beyers says Vanderwoude was the only one in the house when the fire broke out.
He says the fire is being called suspicious because of two previous incidents at the house and the amount of damage done to the house in a short period of time.
Beyers believes an accelerant was used to start the fire, but the investigation is ongoing. Neighbors say they saw a man go inside the house but not come out. An autopsy will be performed by the State Meidcal Examiner's Office.
