The Omaha Police Department will join 150 other police agencies from around the world to take part in a 24-hour tweet-a-thon.
Omaha police say the tweet-a-thon is intended to raise awareness of law enforcement's use of social media.
Agencies from six countries will be marked on Twitter by hashtag #poltwt.
Lt. Darci Tierney, says her agency hopes to use the event as a virtual ride-along, "giving the community a glimpse of the daily activity and a behind the scenes look at the typical day of a patrol officer.''
The tweet-a-thon occurs Friday.
