Officials are checking sensors to see if there's any erosion under the spillway.
The Gavins Point Dam gets a checkup to assess damage from 2011's massive flood.
After the flooding, measuring devices were planted in the spillway concrete of the dam to check for damage. Operations Manager Dave Becker says they're now looking at data from those devices to determine the condition of the dam.
"They're going to be looking at this pressure data, (to) really understand the base under that concrete," Becker says, "but the concrete is in excellent shape."
Becker says they're checking to see if those record flows from two years ago might have eroded some of the gravel frost blanket under the spillway.
