Starting May 25 admission will no longer be charged at the Joslyn Art Museum.
Executive director and CEO Jack Becker made the announcement Wednesday afternoon. “We will be free for all going back to our founder Sarah Joslyn’s original attempt for this to be a free museum for the entire community and the entire region.”
Becker said the free admission is possible because of The Sherwood Foundation. The Foundation is based in Omaha and has provided the Museum with a grant to help defray costs associated with the general entrance fees.
“No longer should an economic barrier be an access, everyone has access to the visual arts and can come and participate in the Joslyn and realize this is really a museum for the entire community,” said Becker.
The museum will still charge for major special exhibitions and classes.
