The eight foot tall bronze statue of the Hall of Fame pitcher and Omaha native will be located outside Werner Park in Papillion

Omaha native and Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Gibson was honored today as his statue was unveiled at Werner Park.
The long time Bellevue resident was joined by former teammates Tim McCarver, Joe Torre and Bill White as well as Cardinals Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. Long time Gibson friend Warren Buffett was also in attendance.
Baseball Commisioner Bud Selig said "38 years after he threw his last pitch in the major leagues, the name Bob Gibson continues to conjure up magic to everyone in the baseball world."
Governor Dave Heineman proclaimed this Bob Gibson day in Nebraska. The event was also open to the public and drew dozens of fans.
The eight foot tall, 1-thousand pound bronze statue will be located near the front entrance of the stadium.
