$4.1 million has been raised for the $6.3 million project.
Fundraisers have been seeking donations to finish construction of an Omaha monastery for an order of cloistered nuns.
Ruth Ann Popp says the exterior of the building on the western edge of Omaha has been completed, but interior work remains undone. The 34,500-square-foot monastery will include a guest area, a chapel that will hold more than 50 people, and a community room, dining room and kitchen.
There also will be 18 bedrooms for Poor Clare Sisters. Sister Theresina Santiago leads local Poor Clares, and she says their mission is prayer.
Santiago says $4.1 million has been raised for the $6.3 million project. She says $1 million of the money raised so far was saved over 20 years from money donated through estates and other sources.
