No one was injured in the fire near 35th and Jackson Monday afternoon
The fire broke out in a house near 35th and Jackson around 1:20 p.m. The owner said two families lived in the house, but everyone got out safely.
Heavy smoke and flames kept firefighters busy for more than two hours. Joshua Pry lives behind the house and tells 1110 KFAB a neighbor tried putting the fire out with a garden hose.
Pry says because the flames were near the overhead power lines he became concerned for the man's safety and got him away from the house.
He says a few moments later the power box in the rear of the house exploded and the flames spread to the back of the house.
The official cause of the fire is not yet known.
