Friday's events in south Omaha have been cancelled
Organizers of Omaha's Cinco De Mayo festivities say Friday's events, including the carnival, have been cancelled because of the winter like weather. "We've never seen anything this extreme in May", organizer Marcos Mora says.
He tells 1110 KFAB they have had to adjust schedules before due to rain and thunderstorms, but not for snow and cold.
Mora says they are proceeding with Saturday's activities, which includes a parade along south 24th Street at 10:00 a.m. and the carnival.
Mora expects numbers to be down on Saturday because temperatures are only expected to be in the upper 40's.
Mora is hoping to the end the weekend on a good note. Sunday's forecast calls for warming temperatures.
