The Nebraska Humane Society says two Rottweilers that mauled a seven year old boy will be euthanized.
The Nebraska Humane Society has cited 59 year old Richard Willett for improper restraint of a dog, dog damaging property and menacing behavior. All are misdemeanors punishable by up to 6 months in jail and/or a $500 fine.
Humane Society spokesman Mark Langan says Willett signed ownership of both dogs over to them. NHS will hold the dogs for a ten-day quarantine to check for rabies. The dogs will then be euthanized based on the serious attack.
Langan says the boy was walking in a wooded area near his Elkhorn home when the dogs got through the invisible fence in their yard and attacked him. The boy suffered serious bites to his forehead and scalp.
Langan says Willett has been very cooperative in this investigation.
