Jean Stothert is elected Omaha's first female mayor.
Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle conceded defeat to challenger Jean Stothert shortly before Tuesday.
The final release of unofficial results from the Douglas County Election Commissioner's Office at 10:05 pm Tuesday showed Stothert had 47,953 votes - 57.32% compared to Suttle with 35,346 votes - 42.25%.
Stothert is Omaha's first female mayor and the first Republican elected to the position in 16 years.
Suttle stated he was proud of his administration's accomplishments during his four years in office. Suttle pledged to begin Wednesday to work with Mayor-Elect Stothert in developing a smooth transition.
Stothert officially takes the mayor's seat on June 10th.
