The Urban Search and Rescue team based in Lincoln has been sent to tornado ravaged Moore, Oklahoma
Nebraska Task Force 1 has been deployed to Moore to assist with search operations in the wake of Monday's deadly tornado. The 82-member team arrived in Tuesdaymorning.
The task force has 21 Omaha firefighters, several Lincoln firefighters as well as civilian members who are doctors, structural engineers, and heavy rigging specialists. The team also includes five canine search specialists with six dogs.
The task force members are expected to be in Oklahoma for several days. Teams from Texas and Tennessee also have been deployed.
Nebraska task force members previously responded to tornados in Joplin, Missouri in 2011, Little Sioux, Iowain 2008, and Moore, Oklahoma in 1999.
