A firefighter was airlifted to an Omaha hospital after falling during a training drill Friday afternoon
Captain Tim McCaw says a probationary firefighter was airlifted to a hospital after falling three stories from an open window at the Police and Fire Training Facility at Rainwood & Blair High Road Friday afternoon.
McCaw says the first year firefighter was doing a search and rescue drill as part of a required skills competency test when he fell 35-feet from a third floor window.
He suffered internal and external injuries and was flown to Nebraska Medical Center. He is listed in stable condition.
McCaw says the firefighter was injured while trying to locate a small child rescue dummy. The incident is under investigation. McCaw says two training officers and the firefighter's search partner were present at the time.
